Product reviewed: Eparé Manual Coffee Grinder
There is nothing like the aroma of freshly ground coffee, which is why I always buy whole beans to grind. The joy of coffee always begins with the whole bean. I have been using the same electric grinder I got free with a purchase at least 10 years ago, so I was giddy to try a new grinding gadget.
When I received the Eparé Manual Coffee Grinder, I was excited to see it is a nice size and fits perfectly in my cabinet right next to my coffee mugs. I enjoyed the immediate comfort I had in holding it. It is ergonomically pleasant with modern stainless-steel accents, a clear glass bottom to see grounds and a nice weight, indicating it will not fly out of my hands mid-grind.
The grinder is stylish, sleek and simple. There is minimal assembly required: place the top on and attach the magnetic handle. It is easy to clean by removing the base, unscrewing the bottom nut and rinsing with warm water. The grinding process time is about the same as my automatic grinder. The best features are the gripping pad on the bottom to secure the tool in place while grinding and the clearly labeled 15 settings to choose a particular grind for all types of brew, from chunky grounds for French press to fine espresso and everything in between.
Another great feature: a “hopper” that holds enough beans for a couple rounds of coffee, so it is always ready to grind. When storing the grinder, I set it on top of a small square of parchment paper to keep it from sticking to the bottom of my cabinet.
I have happily replaced my meager single speed, one-grind option electric grinder with the Eparé Manual Coffee Grinder. Not only am I able to enjoy a variety of coffee brew types, but I also am building some biceps and finding joy in the manual coffee process from start to finish.
